English 11-3 B/D Days, Block 3
English 11-1 A/C Days, Block 3
English 11-2 B/D Days, Block 1

As you might expect, the next four weeks will consist primarily of activities and work that addresses the student potential to succeed on the upcoming English Regents. In order to insure that students have a level of recall regarding content covered this year, as well as a handle on how to tackle the parts of the assessment we will be working in a very intentional manner. The following activities took place in class today.:
1) The Of Mice and Men tests were returned and the answers reviewed.

2) Brian's Song Critical Lens essays were returned with comment and completed rubrics. One of Athena's Reading Specialists, Ms. Churchill, scored the essays so that students could have the experience of receiving feedback from another professional--one who might have to score their tests "for real."

3) The New York State rubric, which will be used by other teachers in the district to evaluate the Critical Lens essay, was reviewed by students to further clarify for them what the expectations are.

4) Using feedback provdied by the rubric, stduenst were asked to write two short term goals whcih will be used to focus their own efforts over the next four weeks. For example:My two short term goals are: "In the next four weeks I will develop the skill of using relevant information from all source documents." Remember: A good goal is written, challenging, believable, specific, measurable and has a specific deadline.
Homework due next class:
1) Two short term goals.

2) Bring a pencil to the next class as well be be taking a Parallel Assessment.

3) English 11-1 and 11-2 ONLY: Complete Strategies for Success Scavenger Hunt.
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.
