In Class Today: 6/9

English 11-1 A/C Days, Block 3

The following activities took place in class today:
1) Materials to be submitted to student folder reviewed: Artifacts 1 & 2 and Reflective Essay.

2) Day 1 Part 2 English Regents (Reading & Writing) Practice completed.

3) Reviewed Online Extra Credit Four containing four selections (three fiction and two non-fiction) and 48 multiple choice questions.
Homework due next class:
1) Complete any missing submission pieces to be placed in school portfolio.

2) Online Extra Credit Four.(Optional)
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.

English 11-1 A/C Days, Block 3

The following activities took place in class today:
1) Artifact Two & Reading Rewind for House on Mango Street collected.

2) Day 1 Part 1 English Regents (Listening & WRiting) Practice completed.

3) Reviewed Online Extra Credit Three: Revising and Editing section of the Spring 2000 English II Online Exam (Texas) containing 40 multiple choice questions all dealing with grammar, word choice, sentence structure and proofreading.
Homework due next class:
1) Reading Rewind for Of Mice and Men employing the "complex" story map was assigned for those who finsih early.

2) Online Extra Credit Three (Optional)
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.

1) Reviewed possible Artifact Twos for the Student Portfolio. Artifact Two must be a piece of writing generated in any academic discipline other than English and should demonstrate the student's best effort.

2) Reviewed Online Extra Credit Two: Writing Part 1 section of the Spring 2000 Exit Level TAAS containing 40 multiple choice questions all dealing with grammar, word choice, sentence structure and proofreading. Remember to print your results in order to receive credit!

3) Wrote our Final Exam (20% of the student's OVERALL Grade!), a Reflective Essay, in class.
Homework due next class:
1) Online Extra Credit 2(optional).
2) Complete Reading Rewind 3: The House on Mango Street

3) Identify and bring in Artifact 2.

The following activities took place in class today:
1) Reviewed possible Artifact Twos for the Student Portfolio. Artifact Two must be a piece of writing generated in any academic discipline other than English and should demonstrate the student's best effort.

2) Reviewed Strategies for Success for Session 1 Part 1 of the English regents, Listening and Writing for Information & Understanding.

3) Began a practice test for Session 1 Part 1.
Homework due next class:
1P) Identify and bring Artifact Two to class.

2) Complete a Reading Rewind for The House on Mango Street employing the "simple" story map.

3) Reviewed Online Extra Credit Two: Writing Part 1 section of the Spring 2000 Exit Level TAAS containing 40 multiple choice questions all dealing with grammar, word choice, sentence structure and proofreading. Remember to print your results in order to receive credit!

1) Writing Journal Prompt 20 (written on the back of The Crucible Key Facts Sheet) was a Quote of the Day activity using: “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”~Victor Frankl.

2) Reviewed Online Extra Credit for Fourth Quarter. Today's on-line extra credit is Spring 2000 TAAS (Texas) Reading Online Test. Remember to print your results in order to receive credit!

3) The Final Exam (20% of the student's OVERALL Grade!), a Reflective Essay, was begun via an outline.
Homework due next class:
1) Complete the Reflective Essay Outline for use in writing the essay next class.

1) we reviewed the results of Parallel Assessment 4, and looked at it in the larger context of the two day, six hour, four part English Regents.

2) Introduction and review of the Final Assessment Project.

3) Began Reading Rewinds (consisting of Key Facts and a Story Map) based on The Crucible and The Things They Carried.

1) Complete Reading Rewinds as assigned.
