Please remember to arrange to see your teacher during Advisement if you need assistance with any of the following homework assignments:

1) Read Section 2 of The House on Mango Street and complete the Active Literacy Template (ALT):
I. For each of the six assigned vignettes select 1 example of figurative language and identify the strategy employed by the author for each.

II. Vocabulary as assigned.

III. Summarize each vignette in complete sentences.
2. Draft a vignette in the style of Cisneros' "Hairs" in which you describe, using at least four figurative language strategies, a trait which you share with a member of your family. (You can also choose to write about a trait which no one in your family but you possesses, too!)
